Murrays Cauld
Following the severe flooding of the Ettrick & Yarrow Valleys on the 8th January 2005 there are now serious concerns on the damage caused by the flood water to the apron of Murrays Cauld. A large section at the foot of the cauld has broken off. Undermining of the structure may cause erosion and further weaken the cauld. The area of damage is considerable and extends to almost a third of the north side of the cauld.
